Pan-tilt-zoom or PTZ cameras have mechanical parts that allow them to swivel, tilt, and zoom. They are ideal for monitoring wide areas needing a 180- or 360-degree view and are often used in guard stations for remote operation. Depending on the model or software, a PTZ camera can automatically follow motion or follow a preset schedule. They are usually part of a larger surveillance system, where the PTZ security camera tracks movement and a fixed camera captures detailed shots.
